Fungus Colour Plates are small thumbnail images of mushrooms and other fungi with articles that can be found in the MIROFOSS database. The following table shows all of the CAPPED mushrooms found in MIROFOSS organized vertically by shape characteristics. Clicking on a fungus plate image will bring you to the corresponding MIROFOSS article. Please note this page may take a while to load on slower computers or with slower internet connections.

Many mushrooms have caps; a hard structure which protects the gills on the underside of the mushroom. The cap radiates from the central stalk of the mushroom and the gills may be attached to the cap; or be free of the cap. Mushroom caps can be many different sizes, as well as have different structures located on the top. The caps can also have an inky or waxy sheen.
